Importing employees, creditors with BSB numbers (with leading zeros) from a spreadsheet

There are certain pre-requisites for importing BSB numbers correctly.

To import correctly the BSB has to be entered as a number and formatted as a 6 character text field, otherwise it is possible that Excel will try to convert the value of the BSB field to a date.

E.g.

"001-200" can be interpreted as "1-Jan".

To import the BSB correctly:

1.  Enter BSB values as numbers.
   
   The BSB "012-564" will be entered as "12345".
   
   
2. Enter the fields as '012345.
   
   It will appear in the spreadsheet as
   
   
   
   
3. Format the field as text
   
   Use the drop down option or the Edit format option.
   
   
   
   
   
   This should format the text with 6 characters where a leading zero will appear.
   
   
4. Use the format painter to copy the format of this cell to apply to all cells in the BSB column.
