Technically speaking, email are not sent from an address (each message has a “From” address specified as an attribute of the message) and originates from the mail server.
The "From" address will determine where any reply emails are directed.
When sending external emails from a Job, the Job's email address maybe used as the "sent from" address sending emails, but this can be overridden.
The reply email address is evaluated as follows:
From Email |
Stored in |
1. Reply email for the job |
General > Addresses > Numbers tab of job entered as type reply email |
2. Reply email for the practice the job belongs to |
General > Addresses > Numbers tab of practice entered as type reply email |
3. Reply email for the current user |
General > Numbers tab of user record entered as type reply email |
4. Email for the job |
General > Addresses > Numbers tab of job entered as type email |
5. Email for the practice the job belongs to |
General > Addresses > Numbers tab of practice entered as type email |
6. Email for the current user |
General > Numbers tab of user record entered as type email |
For sending emails, email addresses are entered into General → Addresses → Numbers:
Sending Messages
If you prefer to pick an alternate senders email address you can update the "From" email address in the message before you send it.
The below email options show in order:
- The Job's reply email
- The Practice's reply email
- The User's reply email
Notes
- If you want to use the Practice's reply email, remove the reply email for the job.
- If the practice appears twice in the From email list then it means you would have both values for the "reply email" and the "email" entered in the practice.
