When you add a document template to Insolvency you may experience the following error:
The template is open or there is a windows background task open
This error can be caused by MS Window having an open reference to the document.
This can happen if the document is open, or, if you are using the Windows Explorer preview pane and the document (particularly PDF documents) are highlighted in Windows Explorer and currently being previewed.
To fix this issue you may:
- Close down any copies of the document you may have open
- Close Windows explorer
- Use task manager to close any processes that may lock the file.
- Restart your machine to clear any open references to the file
Once you have cleared the file lock, try to then add the document again.
File Path too long
Another cause of this issue may be that the length of the file path is greater than 256 characters (that's the entire file path to the document "\\my server\my client folder\my document name.doc"). To confirm this may be the issue use a document with a short name and/or temporarily set the document path to a different location and retry. This is a limitation of Microsoft Word.
Default template in the category
When creating a new template, the software copies the Default.dotx file in the same category. If this file is blocked then this error may occur.
