An external IP address filter allows you to restrict which computers can access Azure resources. Each computer has an external IP address, recognised by resources on the internet.
To add a new External IP to Azure SQL Database to connect to Insol6.
- Open an internet browser
- Login to Azure Portal (https://portal.azure.com)
- Enter in your username and password.
- Click on SQL server (option in ‘Recent resources’)
- On the left list go to ‘Security’ section and click on ‘Firewalls and virtual networks’
- Add a ‘Rule name’ for the new IP
Your current IP address will be displayed on - Add the ‘Start IP’ and ‘End IP’ which is the ‘Client IP address’ listed above the entry sections.
- Click ‘Save’

To add a new External IP to Azure Document Store to connect to Insol6
- Open an internet browser
- Login to Azure Portal (https://portal.azure.com)
- Enter in your username and password.
- Click on ‘MyAzuredocs’ (option in ‘Recent resources’)
- On the left menu go to ‘Settings’ section and click on ‘Firewalls and virtual networks’
- Click the checkbox for ‘Add your current IP address’.
- Click ‘Save’
Note:
If you don’t have a static IP address, then you will need to perform this step each time your modem restarts and assigns you a new IP address.
